The period of construction works in the Kerch Strait is limited to 250 days per year due to weather conditions, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Leonid Ryzhenkin, Kerch Bridge Construction Manager, Stroygazmontazh LLC, as saying during the first press tour to the Kerch Bridge construction site held on April 20.
Leonid Ryzhenkin said that stormy days are included in the schedule. When weather does not allow for execution of works in the water area construction works go on at land sections: reinforcement of support structures, concrete works etc.
“Construction is carried out 24 hours a day with some 200 mechanisms involved,” said Leonid Ryzhenkin. He also added that 2,200 persons take part in construction works while there are plans to exceed the number of workers and engineers to 3,500 persons.
According to him, three auxiliary bridges across the Kerch Strait are under construction to ensure round-the-clock operations on supply of equipment and materials.
There are eight construction sites where simultaneous operations are underway. The bridge will be 19 km long.
