Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda – first resident of Bolshoi Kamen PDA
Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda is the first resident of priority development area in Bolshoi Kamen. According to the press center of Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center, the decision has been signed between the Far East Development Corporation and SC Zvezda.
The Zvezda project envisages the construction of one of the most advanced shipyards in Russia. On completion of the construction project, the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will be able to build tankers with a displacement of up to 350,000 t, LNG carriers up to 250,000 cubic meters, ice class vessels, offshore platform units, specialized vessels and other types of ships. Over 8,000 jobs are to be generated by 2024 when all the phases are completed. RUB 92.902 bln of investments have been announced.
Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda will be a key project participant. Production facilities manufacturing equipment associated with shipbuilding will be placed around it. PDA status will help its residents quickly develop a technological chain for construction of vessels with maximum localization within Russia”, said Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.
“It is a significant step towards implementation of the Presidential Decree on Development of Shipbuilding in the Far East. Under this document, a consortium of companies headed by Rosneft is creating an industrial and shipbuilding cluster based on the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center in the Far East of Russia. Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda will become and ‘anchor’ participant of the project surrounded by manufactures focused on production of equipment associated with shipbuilding”,– said Vladimir Tsybin, Acting Director General of Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center.
A priority development area in Bolshoi Kamen (324.1 hectares) was established by RF Government Decree dated February 26, 2016 (No 43).
Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) comprises major ship repair and shipbuilding industrial capacities of the Far-Eastern Federal District, such as Dalzavod Ship Repair Plant (Vladivostok), Far-Eastern Zvezda Plant (Bolshoy Kamen city), North-Eastern Repair Center (Vilyuchinsk). Today, the company resolves the issues of national importance related to retaining and enhancement of the development and production capacity of the military industrial complex focusing on concentration of intellectual, manufacturing and financial resources while implementing the shipbuilding and marine facilities construction projects for developing Russian offshore and civil shipbuilding.
A consortium of Rosneft, Rosneftegaz and Gazprombank implements the Zvezda shipyard project at the request of the President of the Russian Federation. The project will have a significant multiplier effect on the economy of the region.
