Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 1% to 1.78 mln t in Jan-Feb'16
In January-February 2016, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 1.78 mln t of cargo (+1%, year-on-year), the port authority says. According to the statement, transshipment of general cargo climbed by 3% to 1.64 mln t, bulk cargo – down 19% to 137,000 t, container throughput – up 17% to 74,150 TEUs.
Transshipment of automobiles grew by 1% to 78,024 units.
The port’s passenger throughput grew by 1% to 1.36 mln passengers.
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2015, the port handled 11.4 mln t of cargo (+5.3%, year-on-year).
