Rotterdam-based container company CARU Containers has acquired Amsterdam competitor Container Company Amsterdam (CCA) from the Peijnemann Holding.
CARU Containers is one of the largest traders of shipping containers in the world. Additionally, the company is, according to its own website, among the fifteen largest leasing companies in the world with 160,000 containers rented out or leased. The company was formed in 2000 from the merger of CARU Rotterdam (founded in 1992), Trade Craft (1984), and Lease Craft (1991) and has offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, the US and Singapore. According to sources in the port of Amsterdam, the acquisition of CCA further strengthens the Benelux activities of the Rotterdam container company. In addition, the purchase of the Amsterdam container merchant allows CARU Containers to expand its customer base.
