Rosmorport commissions workboat Pilot Baskakov in St. Petersburg
An acceptance / handover certificate was signed by FSUE Rosmorport yesterday, December 24 in St. Petersburg, Russia for a workboat "Pilot Baskakov," built at Yaroslavsky Shipyard. The commissioned vessel hoisted Russian Federation flag, Rosmorport said.
The acceptance / commissioning ceremony was attended by Director General of Rosmorport Andrei Tarasenko, the employees of the central office and the North-West branch of Rosmorport and representatives of the shipyard.
The workboat construction was financed with support of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport and the Ministry of Transport. The vessel will help ensure the safety of navigation in the Gulf of Finland.
The Pilot Baskakov sister ship showed good results during Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. The boat will be used primarily for fast transport of maritime pilots to ships and can operate in severe weather conditions, in open sea with waves of up to 3.5 m and sail in open ice with thickness of 55 cm. The versatile boat was designed to operate in estuaries, coastal areas of open and inland seas, straits, harbors and perform different tasks: survey of navigable waterways, inspection and environmental monitoring of water areas and support in rescue response.
General characteristics: length overall – 22.80 m, breadth overall – 6.70 m, draft – 1.80 m, main propulsion – 2 х 441 kW, full displacement – 66 tonne, crew – 2, personnel – 5.
The boat was named after the famous pilot Alexander S. Baskakov.
Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant (managing company CJSC “VP FINSUDPROM) is located in the central part of Russia, on the bank of the Volga River. It is an Open Joint Stock Company since 1993. The shipyard specializes in the construction of civil vessels and warships.
