Rosmorport doubles its dredging operations at Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal
Steady lowering of the Caspian Sea level seen over the recent years has made FSUE Rosmorport increase its dredging operations at Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal almost twice against the year of 2013, the company says.
This year, the scope of maintenance dredging performed by the company exceeded 4 mln cbm allowing for navigation of ships with draught of up to 4.2 m. The scope of maintenance dredging planned for 2016 – 5.8 mln cbm.
Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal is 188 km long. The dredging project has obtained the state expert environmental approval.
