MSCC Bronka investor Fenix LLC and CMA СGM sign long-term agreement for container cargoes handling
On the 15th of December 2015 port Bronka investor Fenix LLC and a leading shipping company CMA СGM signed a long-term agreement for handling and storage of container cargoes, Fenix says.
CMACGM is the third largest container shipping company with a total fleet capacity of 1,807,298 TEUs. The company serves more than 400 ports over the world and is one of the largest container shipping operators in Saint-Petersburg, including reefer containers.
Today CMACGM calls at Saint-Petersburg under four regular services, connecting Saint-Petersburg through the European hub ports with all international routes. The calls at port Bronka will be performed in accordance with a regular schedule with actually operated vessels with capacity up to 1,800 TEU.
Due to the approach channel and basin depth minus 14.4 meters, the modern cargo handling equipment for post-Panamax vessels operations, and the design solutions port Bronka for the nearest decades will stay the leading Russian port in the Baltic basin and can represent an attractive alternative to the hub ports for handling of the large container fleet. Long-term relations with the new port determined in the signed agreement will allow CMACGM line sustainable improvement of the services and modernization of the operated fleet with new building of higher size Ice class vessels delivered in 2016, including development of the new routes for shipments to Russia and entry to the new markets.
Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex "Bronka" (MSCC Bronka) is being built on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, where the Dam and the Ring Road border the territory of Lomonosov. The Bronka Complex will comprise three specialized facilities: a container terminal encompassing 107 hectares, the Ro-Ro terminal of 57 ha and a logistics center of 42 ha. Container terminal will have a 1,220 m-long quay wall (including 5 berths). The length of Ro-Ro terminal's dock line will be 710 meters (3 berths). After completion of Bronka Phase 1 its capacity will reach 1.45 million TEUs and 260,000 units of Ro-Ro cargoes. In future the MSCC Bronka expansion will help increase the facility's container throughput to 1.9 million TEUs. Upon completion of the port's construction and dredging to the design mark of 14.4 meters in 2015 MSCC Bronka will be able to accommodate Post-Panamax containerships and the ferries of Finnstar class.
Implementation of the Bronka project is expected to generate 2,300 jobs at its marine terminals alone.
The first liner vessel called to Bronka on the 8th of September 2015.
