Havyard deliveres a Live Fish Carrier to Norsk Fisketransport
Yesterday, Havyard Ship Technology's yard in Leirvik in Sogn delivered its newbuild no 124, the Live Fish Carrier Namsos to the ship owners Norsk Fisketransport, the company said in its press release.
The contract for the building of Namsos, a Havyard 587 Live Fish Carrier design, was signed in November 2013. Today, the vessel was handed over to the shipping company, which will send it on assignment immediately under a long-term contract with Oppdretternes Miljøservice (OMS).
Namsos and the Havyard 587 design are a further development of the Live Fish Carrier FS Stormy, delivered by Havyard in 2014. Norsk Fisketransport (NFT) subsequently acquired the company that ordered FS Stormy and it operates the vessel, which is now called Havtrans. When it was built, Havtrans was a prototype from Havyard, where the new systems concerning the cylindrical tanks in particular were a big innovation. Havyard and NFT have used the latter's experience of operating Havtrans to further develop and improve the Havyard 587 design, which has now resulted in Namsos.
