DFDS starts shuttle between Italy and England
DFDS will be offering daily freight transport by rail between Italy and England, via Rotterdam. The rail link forms part of an extensive multimodal connection.
DFDS offers transport for goods which are loaded into containers, trailers or swap bodies in both full and part loads. In England, the goods are conveyed by road to the port of Felixstowe or Killingholme, after which they are shipped to Rotterdam. Here, they are put on a train to Novara or Piazenca in Italy. Distribution to clients is handled by DFDS in Italy.
“There is increasing demand for environmentally friendly transport, daily departures and better turnaround times. With this new connection, we offer a flexible service and can respond better to demand from our clients,” says Thierry Versluis, Route Manager and responsible for the England–Italy connection.
