Some 90% of Russia’s seaports to apply for obtaining of free port status, RF Transport Ministry says
Some 90% of Russia’s seaports are going to apply for free port status, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Vitaly Klyuev, Acting Director of Transport Ministry’s Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport, as saying at the joint meeting of the Board and the Public Council of Rosmorrechflot.
According to him, the Ministry has elaborated a general Bill on Free Ports of Russia and has already received many applications from different ports including Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk.
The Federal Law on the Free Port of Vladivostok came into effect on October 12, 2015. The Free Port includes 15 municipal territories of Primorye: Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Artyem, Nakhodka, Bolshoi Kamen, Partizansk, Spassk-Dalny, Pogranichny, Nadezhdinsky, Shkotovsky, Khasansky, Khankaisky,Partizansky, Olginsky and Oktyabrsky districts as well as their water areas. Total free zone area - 28,400 sqm with population of 1.4 mln people.
