Tanker owner-operator AET announces Captain Rajalingam Subramaniam as President and CEO
The board of directors of AET – one of the world’s largest tanker owner-operators – have confirmed the appointment of Captain Rajalingam Subramaniam as President & CEO effective 1 January 2016, the company said in its press release.
Captain Raja has been overseeing the running of AET since July alongside his role as VP Fleet Management Services at parent company MISC.
A former seagoing officer and master mariner, Captain Raja sailed onboard MISC vessels before serving ashore as a marine superintendent. Following an appointment in 2005 as head of AET Shipmanagement, he moved to parent company MISC in 2008 as Vice-President, Shipmanagement Services. Captain Raja serves on the board of several MISC subsidiaries and joint venture companies and, until recently, was the Vice-Chairman of Intertanko – a position he had held since 2012. Due to his valued contribution, he has just been appointed Chairman of Intertanko’s new Gas Tankers Committee. He holds an MBA from Universiti Utara Malaysia and is an Honorary Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
AET specialises in the global ocean transport of petroleum and operates a fleet of 82 vessels comprising 13 VLCCs, 4 Suezmaxes, 1 Panamax, 49 Aframaxes, 4 DP shuttle tankers, 8 CPPs and 3 LR2 tankers. The company is headquartered in Singapore, with commercial centres in Singapore, London and Houston together with a specialist offshore lightering unit in Galveston, Texas.
AET is the petroleum unit of Malaysian energy logistics group, MISC Berhad.
