Murmansk Region Governor suggests building oil processing infrastructure on Kola Bay’s western coast
Murmansk Region Governor has suggested that RF Ministries of Transport and Energy in cooperation with Murmansk Region Government and largest oil companies are entrusted with exploring the possibility of building oil processing infrastructure on Kola Bay’s western coast, says press center of the regional Government.
“Oil companies' activities on oil transshipment are scattered and much crude runs past Murmansk. That is not fair, I think. We could solve part of our own problems related to fuel,” Marina Kovtun said at the final meeting of the State Commission on Arctic Development and RF Government’s Marine Board.
In particular, she believes this will help solve the problem of utilizing obsolete vessels as floating bases for oil storage and transshipment.
Marina Kovtun said the proposal was backed by RF Ministry of Energy.
The participants of the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin also discussed measures on implementation of the state policy in the Arctic, development of port infrastructure in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
