NYK participates in Japan-Kazakhstan Business Forum
On October 27, NYK Auto Logistics (Kazakhstan) LLP (NALK), an NYK Group company, attended the Japan-Kazakhstan Business Forum held in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The forum took place during Japan prime minister Shinzo Abe’s formal visit to several countries in central Asia, the company said in its press release.
NALK, a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK, is a logistics company for finished cars that runs an inland finished-car terminal featuring a railroad sidetrack. The terminal is located in southeastern Kazakhstan in the oblast of Almaty.
At the forum, 16 companies having ties to Japan, including NALK, exhibited display panels showcasing business activities. This was an opportunity for NALK to explain its Kazakh business developments — including an inland finished-car terminal to be launched in Astana next year — to Prime Minister Abe and Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev. NALK also informed the two leaders of its plans for infrastructural improvements for logistics in Kazakhstan, a major issue that Kazakhstan is now facing.
In addition, NALK exchanged a memorandum of understanding with KAZNEX INVEST, the national export and investment agency of the Kazakhstan government. The memorandum includes a statement from the agency indicating that it will support NALK’s activities on a continuing basis.
