Vostochnaya Verf shipyard (Primorsky Territory) laid down the first tanker of Project 03182 (Mikhail Barskov) on October 27, 2015. According to the press center of Primorye authorities, the ceremony was attended by Vasily Usoltsev, First Deputy Governor of the Primorsky Territory.
Construction of the ship with displacement exceeding 1,000 t is to be completed by the end of 2017. The second tanker of Project 03182 is to be delivered in late 2019.
Vasily Usoltsev said the shipyard thus confirms its stability and sustainable development.
Pacific Fleet Commander Sergei Avakyants said that shipbuilding is especially important for the development of the Pacific Fleet.
For the first time in its history, Vostochnaya Verf will build two vessels of over 1,000 t in displacement with a possibility of upgrade to Arc5 class. The state contract for construction of the two tankers had been signed with RF Ministry of Defence.
Small tankers of Project 03182 are intended for patrol and rescue duty in the areas of shipping, search and salvage of stricken ships, pumping of water from flooded compartments, for towing of stricken vessels to shelter. They can also be used as a fire-fighting ship.
Major purpose of the tankers is acceptance, storage and supply of liquid fuel for bunkering of ships.
The tankers will also have a helipad, an oil spill response complex, a 20-tonne crane. The ships will be fitted with state-of-the-art communication, navigation and automation equipment as well as with rescue and firefighting means.
Major characteristics of Project 03182: length – 78.8 m, width – 15.4 m, draught max – 4.9 m, cruising range - 1,500 miles, endurance – 30 days, crew – 24, full displacement – 3,500 t, deadweight – 1,560 t, seaworthiness – up to 9 points, main propulsion power - 3х1600 kW, auxiliary powerplant capacity - 2х400 kW, propulsion unit ВРК - 2х1600 kW.
Vostochnaya Verf OJSC (before 1994 – Vladivostok Shipbuilding Plant) was set up in 1952 with the purpose to build ships for the Pacific Fleet and border services of the Far East region of USSR. Incorporated in 1994. In 1950-2000, the shipyard built over 400 for Navy, border services and fishing companies, exports exceeded 30 units.
