Russian Railways organizes shipment of container train from port of Yingkou to Moscow
JSC United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC), a subsidiary of JSC Russian Railways, organized a container train shipment from the Port of Yingkou (China) to Moscow, Russian Railways says in its press release. The project was implemented within the framework of agreements reflected in the Memorandum of Cooperation between JSC Russian Railways and the Yingkou Port Group Corporation.
The train, made up of 45 containers of consumer goods, left the port on September 17 and covered the distance to the border crossing in Zabaikalsk in two days. Here, another 17 containers were added to the trains.
In order to simplify customs clearance procedures at the border, a system of preliminary information is used which makes it possible to check the supporting documents prior to the arrival of the train at its destination station. This will significantly reduce the term of registration of the transit declaration.
The total estimated travel time will be 13 days.
The plans of the UTLC group of companies are to further develop cooperation with the Port of Yingkou. Currently, as part of RZD Express cargo delivery service, JSC UTLC, together with the Port of Yingkou, is modeling a technology platform for the delivery of goods from China to purchasers in Russia for Alibaba, the world's leading e-commerce group.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between JSC Russian Railways and Yingkou Port Group Corporation was signed September 3, 2015. The parties have agreed to a strategic partnership in the field of joint development and management of logistics centers and international multimodal transport.
The key areas of cooperation include the establishment of a Russo-Chinese logistics center in Moscow oblast, the formation of a joint operating platform, and the establishment of a Sino-Russian logistics park in the Port of Yingkou.
Today, the Port of Yingkou is the eighth largest port in China in regards to traffic (serving 85% of domestic traffic in connecting northeastern provinces with southern ones) and ranks 12th in the world. The processing capacity of the port is 300 million t/year and it has terminals for handling all types of cargo. It is connected by sea with 140 ports of 50 countries.
