TTS to equip the second ferry duo for Gotlandsbolaget to be built in China
TTS Marine AB, a subsidiary of TTS Group ASA, has again secured a Ro-Ro contract. This time a contract to supply Ro-Ro equipment to Rederi AB Gotland’s new vessel ordered in June 2015, an option to the vessel signed in 2014 with Guangzhou Shipyard in China, the company said in its press release.
The two newbuildings in China will be the second duo equipped with TTS Cargo Access Equipment. Already in 1999 TTS received a contract to deliver Ro-Ro equipment for the same owner at the same yard for two ferries, which were delivered to the owner in 2003.
Recently a contract was confirmed with Guangzhou Shipyard in China for delivery of Cargo Access Equipment to their newbuilding no 14121002, a sister vessel to the last year contracted vessel for the same owner.
The two newbuildings have been ordered by Rederi AB Gotland and the vessels are RoPax ferries with a passenger capacity 1,650 passengers and a combination of trucks and private cars for their service between Visby at the island of Gotland in the Baltic and the port of Oskarshamn at the mainland of Sweden.
The vessels will have a length of about 200 meters and is a combined Ro-Ro and passenger ferry with optimized hull form and LNG powered to improve fuel consumption and impact on the environment. The two ferries will be the first LNG driven RoPax vessels in the Baltic under Swedish flag.
The Cargo Access Equipment is designed to improve the turnaround time in port and includes three stern ramp/doors, bow doors, a bow ramp of folding frame type, provision lifts with covers and side shell doors. The CAE includes a total weight of about 280 tonnes.
The scope delivered by TTS Marine AB includes design of equipment, major components and supervision of installation of ro-ro equipment on board.
The TTS Marine AB’s VP Sales, Mr Björn Rosén, comment these contracts as “a confirmation of TTS as a preferred supplier to ship owners with previous experience of TTS equipment as well as to Chinese shipyards specialized on this type of passenger/ro-ro vessels.”
TTS Marine AB is scheduled to deliver their scope of equipment to the yard for the two vessels from September 2015 and March 2016, respectively.
The newbuildings are due for delivery to the Owner in August 2017 and February 2018, respectively.
