MOL Liner to ask all customers to provide a 6-digit Harmonized System Commodity Code
Effective October 12, 2015, MOL Liner will ask all customers to provide a 6-digit Harmonized System Commodity Code (HS Code) at the time of submitting the Shipping Instruction (SI) for all shipment origin. The provision of the HS code is optional, the SI process will still be proceeded if the code is not provided, except in cases where the customs requested, the company said in its press release.
HS Code is a valuable supplement to the general cargo descriptions. The provision of the HS Code together with accurate commodity descriptions provided by customers will make the documentation process more efficiently and help us to deliver a better customer experience.
The HS code is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers for classifying traded products developed and maintained by the World Customs Organization (WCO).
