In January-August 2015, seaport of Azov handled 5,894,000 t of different cargo (-27.4%, year-on-year), the port Harbour Master Viktor Zavozin told IAA PortNews.
In the reported period, transshipment of grain fell by 8% to 3,600,000 t, oil products – by 46.4% to 2,850,000 t. Coal transshipment increased by 18.8% to 341,000 t.
Export fell by a half to 1,970,000 t, import – by 53.7% to 183,000 t, transit – by 46.4% to 2,300,000 t. Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 1,711,000 t (no coastal trade cargo was handled in January-June 2014).
In January-August 2015, the port authorities registered 2,446 incoming and 2,453 outgoing vessels against 3,237 incoming and 3,230 outgoing vessels a year ago.
Viktor Zavozin attributes the decrease of throughput and turnover of vessels to lower transit of oil products from inland water ways and lower grain exports.
Sea port Azov is located in the mouth of river Don.
