A Greece owned livestock carrier "Nabolsi I" cought fire on Saturday afternoon in Mediterranean to the south off Lerapetra (Crete, Greece), the Crete media reported citing the local Goast Guard search and rescue centre.
Two vessels, a Hellenic Coast Guard and NATO ships are conducting rescue operation at the scene trying to contain the blaze onboard the ship. No further details about the incident were immediately available.
The Panama-flagged "Nabolsi I" owned by RJA Group was sailing from Croatia and was bound for Alexandria, Egypt.
