Laser technologies to be applied for ship repair in Primorsky Territory (photo)
Pilot project of Laser Technologies Center has been launched in the Primorsky Territory. The project on laser repair of metal components in the region had been developed by the Far East department of RAS in conjunction with the Far East Federal University and Dalzavod, says press center of the Territory Authorities.
First Vice Governor of the Primorsky Territory Vasily Usoltsev noted the significance of te Center for the regional enterprises, primarily shipbuilding and ship repair companies.
He also said the Primorsky Territory is going to enter the federal programme on creation of engineering centers.
The complex on repair of metal components is to be established on the basis of the pilot project within a three-year period. Besides, mobile repair stations are to be created for vessels.
Apart from repair, the technology can be applied for improvement of the components’ properties making them more resistant to environmental effects.
