Grain rail traffic to / from ports drop 6.7% in H1 to 2.56 million tonnes
Rail shipments of export / import grain to / from ports in January-June 2015 fell by 6.7% on H1 2014 and totaled 2.56 million tonnes, TASS reported citing Russian Railways stats.
The volume includes 2,55 million tonnes (-3.2%) of exported grain and 5,08 thousand tonnes (-95.1%) of imported grain.
Rail shipments of export grain to the port of Novorossiysk reached 1.42 million tonnes, to the port of Tuapse 553,53 thousand tonnes (-6.8%), to Liepaja port (Latvia) – 349,18 thousand tonnes (+ 87.9%), to Free Port of Riga (Latvia) – 80,4 thousand tonnes (+ 99.6%), to the port of Ventspils – 54,48 thousand tonnes (an increase of 2, 4 times). The share of grain cargo hauled to to the port of Novorossiysk is 55.6% of total grain exports, to Tuapse port - 21.7%, to Liepaja port - 13.7%.
Transportation of import grain from the port of Riga reached 2,82 thousand tonnes (-74.5%), from the port of Novorossiysk – 1,13 thousand tonnes (-81.6%), from Tuapse port - 0.73 thousand tonnes (a year ago in the six month the commodity was not transported from the port).
