Winners of Ust-Luga Cup 2015 awarded in St. Petersburg (photo)
Ust-Luga Cup awards ceremony was held on June 11, 2015, at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, the PortNews journalist reports.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport Victor Olersky, Chairman of Ust-Luga Company BoD Valery Izrailyt, Executive Director of independent noncommercial organization Baltic Regatta Ust-Luga Cup Aleksandr Aliev and others.
The Regatta gold medal was awarded to the following teams: SMM/Silmar (“Anna”, Group I) and RS/RRR (“Solitaire”, Group II). The Challenge Cup was given to SMM/Silmar team.
According to Konstantin Markelov, Chief Specialist of Ships in Service Department at Russian Maritime Register of Shipping who headed the joint team of the Registers, the secret of the success was in the tight-knit team committed to win and precise crew interaction.
Aslanbek Tsomayev, Senior Expert of RRR North West Branch, said the Register’s participation in the Regatta contributes to further cooperation of RRR with the industry representatives taking part in the races.
The overall results of Ust-Luga Cup 2015:
Group I:
1. SMM/Silmar (“Anna”) – 12 points
2. Russian Railways (“Loko”) – 13
3. Ancher-Logistics/Smart Bulk Terminal (“Merion-X”) — 14
4. Eesti Raudtee (“Premium”) – 18
5. Ust-Luga Company (“Koryushka”) – 23
Group II:
1. RS/RRR (“Solitaire”) — 11
2. Morstroytechnology (“Jessica”) – 14
3. E.ON Russia (“Victoria”) – 17
4. LIEBHERR (“Grace”) – 18
5. Murmansk Commercial Seaport (“Galatea”) – 24
6. Rosterminalugol (“Gloria”) – 25
7. PUL Trans (“Aurelia”) — 31
All in all, the regatta participants covered some 500 miles.
Only 25% of more than 100 participants are experienced yachtsmen. The forth Ust-Luga Cup regatta attracted the record high number of teams – 12. Their crew members represented over 15 Russian and foreign companies: Ust-Luga Company, Russian Railways, Rosterminalugol, PUL Trans, Murmansk Commercial Seaport, Morstroytechnology, E.ON Russia, Eesti Raudtee and Liebherr. Joint teams of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping / Russian River Register, Ancher-Logistics / Smart Bulk Terminal and SMM / Silmar also took part in Ust-Luga Cup 2015.
All the yachts had been divided into two groups according to their racing rate.
Ust-Luga Cup involving the teams representing transport and related sectors was held on the Baltic Sea on June 3 – 11, 2015.
