RS/RRR team is the Second Group leader at Ust-Luga Cup 2015 (photo)
Joint team of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Russian River Register (yacht called Solitaire) is the Second Group leader after four races of Ust-Luga Cup 2015, RS told IAA PortNews with reference to Konstantin Markelov, skipper of RS/RRR team.
“RS/RRR crew integration has lead the team to victory in the circuit race held in Tallinn on June 8. The panel of judges also placed our team having counting over the results of Hiiumaa – Tallinn race held on June 7,” Konstantin Markelov said.
The final race of the regatta will take place on June 9. The yachts are to cover 220 nautical miles from Tallinn to Kronshtadt. 40 hours of this race will show the leader, the skipper said.
According to Konstantin Markelov, this regatta is being held in less favourable weather conditions: smooth air period lasting for hours gives way to a rushing mighty wind up to 25-30 m/s.
It is the second time when RS/RRR team participates in Ust-Luga Cup. The crew is the same as in 2014.
Ust-Luga Cup involving the teams representing transport and related sectors is being held on the Baltic Sea on June 3 – 11, 2015.
12 teams have applied for participation in Ust-Luga Cup: Ust-Luga Company, Russian Railways, Rosterminalugol, PUL Trans, Murmansk Commercial Seaport, Morstroytechnology, E.ON Russia, Eesti Raudtee and Liebherr. Joint teams of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping/Russian River Register, Ancher-Logistics/Smart Bulk Terminal and SMM/Silmar are also among the participants.
The panel of judges is chaired by Andrus Poksi (Estonia).
Ust-Luga Cup will end in Saint-Petersburg with the final show and the award ceremony to be held at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
