Palfinger Dreggen contracted to supply electric offshore cranes for Johan Sverdrup field
PALFINGER DREGGEN has been awarded contract for crane delivery to the Johan Sverdrup field with a total order value of approximately MNOK 285. The prestigious delivery includes seven large offshore cranes and the contract was signed with Statoil in May, in strong competition with other international crane suppliers, the Company said in a press release.
The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 60 tons and an outreach of approximately 60 meters and shall be delivered with full-electric drive. The electric drive contributes to both energy efficiency and reduced maintenance.
Total lifecycle cost of electric cranes is considered to be lower than conventional electro-hydraulic solutions.
The products covered by the contract are developed by PALFINGER DREGGEN. Being part of the Marine Division of PALFINGER AG, the company has grown extensively over the last few years establishing own production facilities and engineering hubs worldwide. “The Johan Sverdrup contract will be a very important contribution for the activity at our Bergen office as well as impacting the activity of the entire organization. Engineering, project management and procurement will mainly be performed in Bergen and most of the production will take place at PALFINGER DREGGEN’s own factories in Poland and South Korea”, says Halldor Rongve. The cranes will next be installed at relevant location for the further construction of the various platform topsides on Johan Sverdrup.
