Cargo transportation within Azov-Don River Basin down 38.2% to 1.83 mln t in Jan-May’15
In January-May 2015, cargo transportation within the area of responsibility of FSI Azov-Don Basin Authority totaled 1,837,000 t (-38.8%, year-on-year), the Authority told IAA PortNews.
The decrease was registered in all sectors: handling of heavy fuel oil fell by 7.8% to 683,000 t, sulphur — by 34% to 286,000 t, vacuum gasoil — 4.2 times to 169,000 t, diesel fuel — by 39.6% to 160,000 t, crushed stone — 2.3 times to 90,000 t.
Total turnover of vessels - 1,290 (-30%, year-on-year).
In May, cargo transportation within the Azov-Don River Basin fell by 32.9% to 1,296,000 t. Heavy fuel oil accounted for 37.9% of total turnover, sulphur – 15.7%, diesel fuel – 9.6%, vacuum gasoil – 8.7%, crushed stone – 5.6%). Total turnover of vessels - 825 against 1.113 mln vessels in May 2014.
Azov-Don Basin Authority attributes the decrease to unfavorable weather and low water discharge from water storage basin Tsimlyanskoye.
