Throughput of port Kavkaz up 2.8 times to 4.54 mln t in Jan-Apr’15
In January-April 2015, port Kavkaz handled 4.54 mln t of cargo (up 2.8 times, year-on-year). As port authorities told IAA PortNews, exports surged 4-fold due to the operation of the off-harbour transshipment complex amid favourable weather conditions. Imports remained flat at 206,500 t, transshipment of coastal trade cargo surged over 15 times to 2.38 mln t.
Bunker sales at the port increased 1.5 times to 133,770 t.
Passenger turnover jumped 3.3 times to 609,118 passengers. The amount of handled automobiles increased 4-fold to 50,425 units.
The number of calls increased 1.5 times to 2,748 calls.
Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The depth of 4.5 meters allows for handling river boats and seagoing ships (off the harbour). The port’s facilities are intended for handling bulked cargoes (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grain) as well as general, timber, and containerized goods. In 2014, the port handled 10.17 mln t of cargo.
