Konecranes wins Automation Award 2015
Konecranes has won the Automation Award 2015 granted by the Finnish Society of Automation. The award was given for the development of new, harmonized automation architecture for lifting equipment in the era of the Industrial Internet. The rewarded Konecranes team consisted of Tuomo Härkönen, Jari Tiittanen, Jari Pehkonen and Ville Saarela, the company said in its press release.
The rewarded automation architecture can be applied in a wide range of lifting equipment and for different customer needs. It enables mass-customization of automation solutions, and thus reduces the project-specific software development and time required for testing. Architecture is modular, harmonized, and besides new automation features it enables a variety of remote services. The functionalities of the innovation are based on “Best Available Technology”, which offers a wide selection of reliable features.
The award-winning innovation is a great example of systematic, modern use of automation. Thanks to the standardized architecture, the automation, remote service and user interface solutions are scalable and thus suitable for everything from small industrial cranes to heavy, demanding process cranes.
This is the thirteenth time that the Finnish Society of Automation has made the Automation Award. The award is given to individuals, teams or companies for outstanding research and development work in the field of automation.
