Noryards to build eco-friendly IMR vessel for BOA
Noryards AS signed new shipbuilding contract with the Norwegian ship-owner and operator BOA for an eco-friendly Inspection Maintenance and Repair (IMR) Vessel. The contract is valued at nearly NOK 700 million. In addition to a firm contract on delivery of a IMR vessel, the contracts include two options, the shipbuilder said in a press release.
Noryards provides engineering, construction and outfitting of the highly advanced IMR vessel. The design is developed in close cooperation between Noryards and BOA Offshore. The end result is a vessel that meets both BOA’s operational demands and the industry’s highest safety and environmental standards.
The new-building will be one of the most energy-efficient vessel of its class, utilizing a number of features that contribute to optimal operational performance, low emissions and reduced fuel consumption.
Noryards secured the contract based on the yard group’s capabilities and recent record of accomplishment in the highly specialized segment of advanced and eco-friendly offshore vessels.
In addition to state-of-the-art fuel-efficiency, the vessel will have an impressive free deck space and a high crewing / operator capacity relative to it’s size. Optimal comfort for crew and operators will be ensured, including modern facilities for execution of effective IMR operations. The vessel’s overall length will be 108 m with a beam of 24 m.
The order is the third consecutive Boa-contract for Noryards, following Boa Bison launched at Noryards Fosen last year and Boa Jarl, currently under construction at the yard in Rissa.
Delivery is scheduled for Q1 2017. Hull construction will be subcontracted to one of Noryards’ recognized partners in Turkey, Tersan shipyard, and the hull is scheduled to arrive at Noryards Fosen for outfitting mid 2016.
