Brand-new boxship San Franciesca calls at the port of Odessa (photo)
Marshall Islands flagged 8,714TEU M/V San Franciesca made her maiden call at the Port of Odessa. The vessel moored at Berth No 42 of Odessa Commercial Sea Port, the Authority of Ukrainian Seaports said.
The containership was built just about six months ago at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.
Pilotage and berthing was pefromed by a pilot of "Delta-Pilot" branch of SE "AUSP", navigation support was provided by pilots of traffic control post of "Odessa" branch.
General characteristics: LOA - 300 m, breadth - 48.4 m, depth - 24.8 m, summer draft - 14.5 m, DWT - 113,000 tonnes.
Odessa, Ukraine based Port of Odessa is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The major stevedore operating at the port is state-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port. The port's throughput capacity is 14 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo and 14 million tonnes of liquid bulk a year. The Odessa Marine Passenger Terminal can accommodate 300-m-long vessels. In 2014 cargo throughput at the port of Odessa rose 6.1% to 24.5 million tonnes.
