Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port two-month cargo volumes drop 29.5% to 355,300 tonnes
Freight volume handled by Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port (KSCP) in January-February 2015 tumbled 29.5% from the same period a year earlier to 355,300 tonnes, the stevedoring company said.
In the reporting period, the decline was seen in almost all segments of cargo: ferrous metals dropped by 30.2% to 174,600 tonnes, coal and coke exports fell by 39.3% to 31,900 tonnes. Petroleum product shipments reached 29,200 tonnes. Container traffic plummeted by 1.9 times to 11,338 TEUs. At the same time, scrap metal volume soared 3.5 times to 26,600 tonnes.
JSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port is the largest enterprise in the port complex of Kaliningrad region. The port is a gateway for intermodal traffic and major exports / imports flows passing through the region. In 2014 cargo throughput at Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port totaled 3.357 million tonnes.
