Capacity of Russian ports rose by 20 million tonnes this year, Ministry of Transport says
Capacity of Russian ports in 2014 expanded by 20 million tonnes, the Russian Minister of Transport said, the State Duma press office reported.
In his report made for lawmakers Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told about the projects for expansion of "Nakhodka-Vostochnaya" transport hub in Primorsky Territory, of Murmansk Transport Hub, and about ongoing construction on the Yamal Peninsula of new port "Sabetta.".
The official is sure that in the near future the country's river navigation will improve considerably as "the government has resolved an issue of transition to new standards of financing for maintenance of inland waterways and hydraulic structures.
Speaking about the plans for 2015, Maxim Sokolov emphasized the increasing capacity of seaports, of comprehensive overhaul of hydraulic structures, logistics centers and multipurpose marine transshipment facilities and other projects.
