Dmitry Medvedev instructs government to focus on the development of Russian shipbuilding in H1, 2015
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has entrusted the government ministries with a number of tasks relating to the development of shipbuilding in the country, the Russian government press office said.
The Russian Energy Ministry was instructed to study the needs in dedicated fleet and other marine solutions for exploration, drilling and transportation of crude oil, gas and gas condensate by 2030. This should be carried out in conjunction with OAO Rosneft, OAO Gazprom, LUKOIL, JSC NOVATEK and other stakeholders, taking into account the planned production volumes of hydrocarbons while developing offshore fields. The results should be submitted to the Russian Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Russian Ministry of Industry, specifying the vessels range, characteristics, the number of vessels needed (per every year) and report to the Government of the Russian Federation by January 21, 2015.
The Russian Ministry of Industry, Defense Ministry were instructed to review the domestic shipyards workload and employment until 2030, taking into account the reduction in post-2020 military production and submit the results by Jan. 2015 to the Ministry of Economic Development and the Government of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Prime Minister also charged other ministries to analyze the existing scientific and technological capabilities for the development of solutions for offshore projects; the status of HR capacity, workforce of the shipbuilding industry and submit proposals on staff training for new jobs; to identify with the participation of stakeholders the future needs in vessels and other marine solutions for various purposes until 2030.
The Russian Government's Marine Board was instructed to consider the submitted study documents and report back to the Government by June 2015.
