Seaports of mainland Ukraine increase cargo handling by 5.2%
According to the Operational Service of the Ukrainian Seports Authority the volume of cargo handling in the ports of mainland Ukraine in October amounted to 12.488 mio tons, which is 5.2% more than it the same period in 2013.
Thus in comparison with October 2013 the following ports showed growth: Berdyansk (180.7%), Odessa (107.5%), Ismail (108%), Ilichevsk (109.3%), the specialized seaport of «Oktiabrsk» (181.3%), «Ust-Dunaisk» (210.3%) and the port of «Yuzhniy» (131%).
The greatest growth in October showed two cargo positions:
• grain cargo – 3.438 mio tons (102% compared to October 2013)
• ore cargo – 3.725 mio tonnes (159.1%)
Containers handling in October amounted to — 49 614 TEU, which totals 70.7% of 2013 level.
Overall, since the beginning of the year the seaports handled 115.673 mio tons of cargo, which is 6.4% higher than the result of 10 months of 2013.
