LUKOIL-BUNKER LLC holds oil spill response exercise in waters of port Novorossiysk
The exercise held on August 14, 2014, at the anchorage No 412 within the water area of port Novorossiysk practiced the activities under the Plan on Prevention and Response to Crude and Oil Product Spill in the Course of Economical Activities of LUKOIL-BUNKER LLC Related to Bunkering of Vessels in Seaports of Kavkaz, Taman, Novorossiysk, Tuapse and Sochi.
Major purposes of the exercise were:
1. To practice cooperation between the units of LUKOIL-BUNKER LLC and Azov - Black Sea Branch of FSI Gosmorspassluzhba (State Marine Rescue Service) during localization and oil spill response activities in the waters of port Novorossiysk (Kavkaz, Taman, Tuapse and Sochi);
2. To improve skills of the crew of the Company’s bunkering tanker in localization and oil spill response activities within the seaport water area;
3. To practice unfolding and organization of the activities of the Company’s Committee for Emergency Prevention and Fire Safety as well as the Headquarters of Operations on oil spill response activities in case of emergency in the water area;
4. To practice organization of communication and warning when implementing activities on localization and prevention of emergencies and their consequences, etc.
The exercise involved the crew of tanker Aginskoye, standby resources of Azov - Black Sea Branch of FSI Gosmorspassluzhba and Novoecoservis LLC, equipment and onboard facilities of vessels and the emergency rescue unit including oil-spill booms, skimmers, vacuum units, motor boats, automotive equipment and etc.
The representatives of control and supervisory bodies who were observing the exercise marked the high level of the Aginskoye crew qualification, good teamwork of all units involved in responding to the simulated spill. According to the conclusion, the goal of the exercise has been achieved, recommendations have been given on further improvement of the Company’s personnel training and on organization of more exercises of this type.
