West Alpha platform destined for drilling in Kara Sea arrives to its site
West Alpha platform destined for drilling in the Kara Sea has arrived to its site, a source in Murmansk Region’s Government told IAA PortNews. The platform will be used for exploratory drilling at Vostochny Prinovozemelsky – 1 zone.
Rosneft President Igor Sechin has recently visited the region to discuss the creation of a support coastal base under the Company’s offshore projects in the western Arctic. Rosneft plans to build not only a support coastal base in the Murmansk Region but also plants to produce underwater fittings, concrete blocks, heliport for dozens of crafts, as well as logistic/transshipment/storage facilities. Besides, the regional government in conjunction with Rosneft will set up a center of Arctic competence at Murmansk State Technical University to train highly-qualified personnel for the projects implementation.
