The pipes intended for construction of the 'Sila Sibiri' gas pipeline are being unloaded at the river port of Lensk, the Republic of Sakha, Yakutia government press office said.
The first cargo of pipes (67 rail cars) was shipped by river vessels from Irkutsk based Ust-Kut.
The cargo consignee is LLC Gazpromtransgaz Tomsk contracted to build the new pipeline from Chayanda gas field based in the Lensky district.
Between July and August Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChelPipe) will supply for the gas pipeline project more than 30,000 tonnes of pipes of large diameter (LDP).
In June 2013, the ChelPipe Group won in a bidding for Gazprom's contract for the supply of the pipes. The company also intends to take part in the new tender processes planned by Gazprom for this year for the supply of pipes for the pipeline project.
The Sila Sibiri gas pipeline will become a common gas supply system for Irkutsk and Yakutia gas production centres and will transport gas from there via Khabarovsk to Vladivostok. Gas production in Yakutia, based on Chayanda natural gas field (est. gas reserves 1.2 trillion cbm) will be developed jointly with that of Irkutsk region (based on the Kovykta gas field (proven reserves 1.5 trillion cbm).
