Vostochny Port and Marubeni Corp. ink agreement on supply of equipment for coal handling facility, P3 (photo)
Primorsky Krai, Russia based stevedore JSC Vostochny Port and Tokyo headquartered Marubeni Corporation have signed the contract for the supply of specialized equipment for dedicated coal handling facility "Specialized Coal Handling Complex", Phase 3 that is scheduled to be commissioned in January 2017, the port operator said in a press release. The contract is valued at RUB 3.5 billion.
Marubeni Corp. has long been a partner of Vostochny Port and has established itself as a reliable supplier of equipment in cooperation with Mitsui.
"The term that all the equipment is manufactured, supplied and installed by one company gives us a guarantee that we will not face compatibility problems while operating the mechanisms" the coal port operator said.
According to the contract terms, the equipment will be delivered within 16 months from the signing by both parites of the handover / acceptance certificate.
The Vostochny Port assets include two transshipment complexes. The first, the only one in the Primorsky Territory, is Specialized Coal Terminal using the conveyor equipment system and a yard for unloading coal laden cars. Automation level here nears 98.9%. The facility capacity is 14.2 million tonnes per year.
The second facility with annual capacity of 3 million tonnes of coal is Universal Handling Terminal specializing in clamshell coal handling.
The Company handles largely coal mined in Kuzbass region. The commodity exports account for 98.5% of total cargo volumes of the terminal operator. Less than 1.5% is coal shipped by coasting dry bulk carriers, and just 0.01% accounts for other cargoes.
JSC Vostochny Port is the largest stevedoring company in Russia, which specializes in coal handling. Construction of Vostochny Port's Coal Handling Terminal Phase 3 began in 2012. JSC Vostochny Port's sole executive body is Management Port Company LLC.
