Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Technical Director honoured with RF Government prize
Vladimir I. Evenko, Technical Director - Head of Classification Directorate of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has been honoured with the Government of the Russian Federation Prize for 2013 in the field of science and technology and with the title ‘Laureate of the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the Field of Science and Technology’, the company said in its press release.
V.I. Evenko was awarded the prize and the honorary title as a member of the team of contributors having invented a new generation of diesel-electric icebreakers (project 21900) on the national scientific and production base. As a result of efficient innovative technical solutions the icebreakers ensured safe and regular navigation in the Baltic Sea harsh ice conditions. Among the laureates of the prize for the development and implementation of this outstanding project are representatives of FGUP Krylov State Scientific Centre, ООО Baltic Yard – Shipbuilding, ОАО Foreign Economic Association Sudoimport, FGUP Rosmorport.
The project included scientific substantiation of the concept, design, construction, full-scale trials and service of the icebreakers Moskva and Sankt-Peterburg. The outcome of this was a considerable extension of the ships’ operation capabilities and the growth of their technical and economic parameters.
Project 21900 icebreakers are designed for the escort of large tankers up to 50 m in breadth, ship towage in ice and on clear water, carriage of cargoes, salvage operations and assistance to ships in distress, fire extinguishing, shipping of equipment for emergency oil and chemicals spills liquidation on the high seas.
At present, upgraded icebreakers of project 21900M are built on the production sites of OAO Vyborg Shipyard based on satisfactory experience of icebreaker project 21900.
