Russian Maritime Register of Shipping promotes QMS certification services in Azerbaijan
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has certified the quality management system of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet (for compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 standards) and the Azerbaijan State Marine Academy (for compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standard), RS said in its press release.
RS is operating in the Azerbaijan Republic since 1923. The classification society actively interacts with the Maritime Administration and port state control bodies, participates in offshore oil and gas field development projects, cooperates in R&D and education with specialised higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan.
The strengthening of business contacts between RS and the leading organisations and enterprises of maritime industry in Azerbaijan makes it possible to ensure reliable operation of ships and environment protection in the Caspian basin, enhances the competitive performance of the local enterprises in the international shipping market.

Azerbaijan State Marine Academy (ASMA) was established in 1996 under the authority of the national leader Geidar Aliev based on the Azerbaijan Republic Cabinet Decree № 91 dated 15 July 1996 on the premises of the Baku Nautical School. Since January 2000, ASMA has been included in the catalog of marine educational institutions of the International Maritime Organisation. As of today, ASMA diplomas and certificates receive international recognition. At the turn of 2012, an Agreement on Cooperation was signed between RS and ASMA, which stipulated a wide exchange of scientific, practical and methodological information, development of training aids and scientific publications, participation in international scientific and educational programmes. The best Academy students can receive practical training at the RS.
