Throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ukraine) down 5.5% to 13.09 mln t in Jan-Oct’13
In January-October 2013, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk handled 13.09 mln t of cargo (-5.5%, year-on-year), says Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.
In particular, state stevedores of IMU system handled 8.15 mln t of cargo (62.3% of the total volume); private stevedores handled 4.94 mln t of cargo at all berths (37.7%) and 3.02 mln t of cargo at the berths of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (23.1%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 12.9% to 1.24 mln t, dry cargo – by 5.2% to 11.8 mln t.
Export transshipment dropped by 10.3% to 6.2 mln t. Transit (accounting for some 30% of the port load) declined by 3% to 3.8 mln t.
Transshipment of import cargoes gained 0.5% to over 2.9 mln t.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes.
The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
