Danish Maritime Days to place the Blue Denmark on the world map
Today, the Minister of Business and Growth had a meeting with the maritime industry organisations, professional organisations as well as the Growth Team for the Blue Denmark, Danish Maritime Authority said in its press release.
At the meeting, the Minister presented the results of the first year's work on the Plan for Growth for The Blue Denmark.
In this connection, a new international maritime event was launched under the headline Danish Maritime Days. This initiative has been developed in co-operation between the Ministry of Business and Growth by the Danish Maritime Authority, the Danish Shipowners' Association and Danish Maritime.
The aim of Danish Maritime Days is to create a recurring international event marking Denmark's leading role as a leading maritime nation at the core of maritime Europe.
An important element of Danish Maritime Days is Danish Maritime Forum, a global summit which will bring together leading maritime decision-makers from all over the world to propose new solutions to the major challenges faced by the maritime industry.
The Danish Maritime Forum will be at the core of a large platform of independent events to be held in connection with summit. These events will be held in close co-operation with and involve the entire Blue Denmark.
Danish Maritime Days will be held 6-10 October 2014.
Danish Maritime Days is an important element of the implementation of the Plan for Growth for the Blue Denmark intended to promote and showcase the Blue Denmark.
Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority Andreas Nordseth:Denmark is a major maritime player. Therefore, the Danish government together with the industry has set the goal of making Denmark the maritime centre of Europe. Danish Maritime Days is an important step towards bringing about this vision. We will show the entire world what the Blue Denmark is capable of and what we stand for. It requires joint efforts and, therefore, I hope everyone in the Blue Denmark will support Danish Maritime Days.
Chairman of the Danish Shipowners' Association & CEO of DS Norden Carsten Mortensen:
Denmark is one of the world's leading maritime nations. Therefore, it is quite natural for us to establish the shipping industry's version of the Da-vos summit and to bring together the world's maritime decision-makers for discussions not only on the challenges facing the industry, but also on proposals for solutions.
President of Danish Maritime & CEO of MAN Diesel and Turbo Thomas Knudsen:
Danish maritime companies supply innovative solutions that are among the best worldwide. Consequently, we contribute to setting the global maritime agenda. By means of Danish Maritime Days we build on this tradition and cement Denmark's position as an important player when debating the future of the maritime sector.
