Passenger traffic of Vodohod up 9% in navigation 2013
According to preliminary estimations, cruise vessels of Vodohod carried 112,000 passengers in navigation of 2013, which is a 9-pct decrease against the year of 2012. Average loading of cruise vessels increased by some 8%, IAA PortNews learnt from the company’s press center.
«The year of 2013 saw a gradual recovery of the demand for river passenger transportation after a failure experienced by all Russian river cruise operators in 2012», Vodohod says.
Intracity passenger flow of Vodohod remained steady in 2011-2013 at some 400,000-410,000 passengers per year. Regular passenger route Saint-Petersburg – Peterhof by Meteor vessels makes the core of passenger traffic – some 75% of transportation by small-size and high-speed vessels of the company. Intracity small-size vessels of the company operate in Moscow and Nizhni Novgorod (93,000 passengers in the navigation of 2013).
In navigation of 2013 the company deployed its entire fleet - 26 vessels with average capacity of 240 passengers. The vessels were busy with river cruises lasting for 3-21 days from the centers of river tourism such as Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Samara, Kazan.
The main event of 2013 was the opening of Vodohod office in Kazan providing a wide range of routes – from weekend cruise to voyages to Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
The recreation fleet operating in the Moscow region consisted of 6 vessels, in Nizhni Novgorod – 3 vessels, in Saint-Petersburg – 9 vessels of Meteor type.
«No serious violations have been revealed by port control of Vodohod vessels. There were no faults or delays in operation. Vodohod has always supported thorough control of shipping companies’ activities. Regular control ensures observance of general “rules of the game” and proper safety level», Vodohod said when commenting on port control at inland water ways of Russia.
