Temasek appoints Mr Cheng Wai Keung as Deputy Chairman
Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (“Temasek”) has appointed Mr Cheng Wai Keung as the Deputy Chairman of its Board of Directors, with effect from 4 November 2013, the company said in its press release.
A non-executive Director on the Temasek Board since 15 September 2011, and also a member of the Temasek Board’s Executive Committee, Mr Cheng is an accomplished and respected business leader in Asia, with extensive business experience across various sectors.
Mr Cheng Wai Keung is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Wing Tai Holdings Limited which has interests in property, hospitality and retail sectors in the region. He is also Vice Chairman of Singapore-Suzhou Township Development Pte Ltd, and a Director with Singbridge Holdings Pte Ltd, Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd and Kidney Dialysis Foundation Limited.
Mr Cheng had previously served as Chairman of NOL, Power Seraya Limited, MediaCorp TV Singapore Pte Limited, Media Corporation of Singapore Pte Limited and Raffles Holdings Limited. He has also served on the boards of various public service organisations.
Mr Cheng was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DUBC) by the Singapore Government in August 2007, and received the Public Service Star (Bar) (BBM-Lintang) in 1997 and Public Service Star (BBM) in 1987. He was appointed Justice of The Peace by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2000. Mr Cheng graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in the United States.
