Russian shipping company V.F. Tanker on July 29, 2013 took delivery the tenth Volga-Don-max tanker of Project RST27 from Okskaya Shipyard, the project designer Marine Engineering Bureau said.
At the same time, the VF Tanker-20 is the 20th tanker of project RST27 delivered to V.F. Tanker in 2012-2013 from two contractors: Okskaya Shipyard and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard.
The project DWT (6980/5378) was exceeded by 50 tonnes – to 7030/5428 DWT. During the shipbuilder’s sea trials the ship’s operational speed reached 11.7 knots.
The new product / chemical tanker of mixed river-sea sailings is the evolution of other projects of Odessa-based firm MEB and features increased river function. The hull form of Project RST27 Volga-Don-max tanker is a result of scientific research carried out in 2010 and was defined with the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD modeling and tested at the towage tank of CSRI of Academic A.N.Krylov. The vessel deadweight was increased by 732 tonnes versus Armada series. The double-sides and double-bottom hull ensures enhanced environmental safety. The vessel is of R2 sailing region, or II region due to old RS classification.
The tanker has six cargo and two slop tanks for transportation of crude oil and oil products (two types of cargo), including gasoline, with no flash point limits (permanent temperature of 60º C). They have no longitudinal bulkhead in CL and no framing in cargo tanks. The series tankers have full revolving rudder propellers, increased trunk and submersible cargo pumps. The RST27 project was developed to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker-Chemical tanker Type 2 (ESP).
The vessel’s main characteristics: sea / river DWT - 7030/5428 tonnes at 4.20m/3.60m draft, LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.6 m, depth – 6.0 m. The capacity of six cargo and two slop tanks is 8100 cbm. Operational speed – 10.5 knots.
The overall orderbook of RST27-series product tankers placed with Okskaya Shipyard includes 15 vessels.
