South Korean shipyard delivers RS classed LNG carrier Sibur Voronezh
A delivery ceremony was held on Monday, at Ulsan-based Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd., South Korea) for new LNG carrier Sibur Voronezh, designed for regular year-round transportation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The vessel was built to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Lloyd's Register. RS Class notation: Ice2 [1] AUT1 OMBO LI IGS-NG ECO BWM SPM Gas carrier type 2G (Ice2 at d ≥ 5.7m), the classification society reports.
This is the first of two ships ordered by SCF Group and to be handed over to petrochemical holding company Sibur on a long-term time-charter agreement.
The tankers were named after the Russian rivers of Tobol and Voronezh (the areas of operations of SIBUR Holding). A naming ceremony for Sibur Voronezh was held on July 4, 2013.
LNG carrier Sibur Voronezh is the first ship built under the project approved by the experts and under their supervision of the RS Center of technical support of design and construction of ships in the Republic of Korea (the office was opened in March 2012). The tanks system consists of four independent C-type tanks with the total capacity of 20,600 cbm, intended for loads transportation under pressure of 540 kPa. The tankers can be equipped with BWT systems.
The Ice2 class allows operation in winter shipping season with low temperature conditions in the Baltic Sea. The Sibur Voronezh and Sibur Tobol will be engaged in the transportation of LNG from Ust-Luga port based terminal.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) was founded in 1913 and is now one of the world’s leading classification societies. In 1969 the society joined the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
