Sea Port St. Petersburg injects over $3m in terminals, infrastructure upgrade
In the first half of the year JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg has invested 102.5 million rubles (US$ 3.1m) in the modernization of freight terminals and infrastructure, the company said on Monday.
The funds were spent largely for upgrade the handling and other equipment as part of its modernization program, including lease payments for previously purchased equipment.
Earlier, the Sea Port St. Pb has taken delivery of two remote controlled grabs of Grapple Guven Grab & Machine. The new equipment has helped boost the productivity in handling bulk materials. Besides, the company has acquired four Tonar semitrailers for mineral fertilizers and equipment for unpacking cargo at Ro-Ro terminal.
There was an overhaul at the port’s storage facility to improve the environmental safety at handling bulk cargo. The warehouse No 36 was reconstructed for temporary storage of mineral fertilizers.
The Company repaired the Pier No 29 rail tracks and outfitted the state border crossing post.
JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg (part of UCL Port, a stevedoring division of the international UCL Holding) is the largest operator providing services for loading / unloading of all kinds of dry cargoes in Big Port St. Petersburg. The company operates modern specialized terminals for handling Ro-Ro cargo, imported vehicles and metals. In 2012, the terminal operator handled 8.7 million tonnes of cargo.
