Baltic Customs reports half-year results
Baltic Customs in the first half of 2013 has processed 5886 foreign-going vessels, the regional Customs press office reports.
The foreign trade turnover has increased year-on-year by 10% to about $ 23 billion. Exports totaled $ 2.4 billion, imports - $ 20.6 billion, the report said.
In value terms exports increased by 7% from H1 2012 while imports rose 10%.
In the reporting period Russia imported goods from 160 countries, versus 151 countries a year earlier. The major imports came from China (18%), Ecuador (10%), Germany (6%) and the USA (5%). The imported goods were largely fruits, meat and meat products, plastics, ferrous metals, fish and crustaceans.
In the first half of the year, Russia exported goods to 118 countries around the world (107 in 2012), primarily to Sweden (18%), Spain (17%), Turkey (14%) and Finland (10%). The major exported commodity was ferrous metal, followed by wood and woodwork and ore, slag and ash.
The number of individuals crossing the Russian border at the Baltic Customs points in H1 2013, increased by 17% year-on-year to more than 896,000. The Baltic Customs officers processed more than 205,000 cargo declarations, a 13% growth on the same period 2012. Electronic declarations account for 98.2% of the total number of cargo declarations submitted to BC in the reporting period. Last year the figure was 92.5%.
The Baltic Customs infrastructure comprises 8 customs posts, 8 bonded warehouses, 3 customs warehouse, 46 permanent customs controlled zones and a duty-free shop.
