Russia’s EMERCOM unit takes delivery of seven patrol boats
The Center of the State Small Vessels Inspectorate of Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) in Krasnodar region has taken delivery of seven new patrol boats that will carry out round-the-clock duty during the Sochi Olympics 2014, the regional EMERCOM press office said.
Igor Shumitskoi, director the Inspectorate headquarters in Krasnodar says the ship "are maneuverable and able to operate at rough seas (Beaufort scale 3) at maximum speed of 80 km/h."
The boats will be delivered to the temporary points of destination until further notice off the coast of Sochi, Adler, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik and Tuapse, then to proceed to Sochi. Each boat will manned by the crew and two state inspectors. Upon completion of the Olympics, the boats will return to their deployment base.
