Throughput of Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg up 54% to 197,927 TEUs in HI’13
In January-June 2013, Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg CJSC handled 197,927 TEUs (+54%, year-on-year), the company says.
The dynamics should be attributed to the increased flow of import cargoes, mainly components for Russian automobile plants and assembly factories, as well as refrigerated cargoes.
Transshipment of import cargo climbed by 57% to 103,301 TEUs, export – by 50% to 94,626 TEUs. In the 6-month period, the terminal handled 156 container carriers with average turnover of 1,269 TEUs per vessel.
Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg (part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of international transport group UCL Holding) is a container handling complex located in the forth cargo district of Big Port St. Petersburg. It covers the area of 32 hectares and its capacity is 430,000 TEUs. The terminal is focused on handling all types of export / import cargo including refrigerated cargo. In 2012, the Company’s throughput reached 326,199 TEUs.
