Ust-Luga Container Terminal handled first Team Lines call (photo)
Ust-Luga Container Terminal (ULCT), a part of NCC group, handled the first Team Lines call, says press center of NCC. Containership Grete Sibum (capacity 1,036 TEU) came to Ust-Luga port from Hamburg and then proceeded to St Petersburg.
The service offers fixed weekly calls to ULCT connecting the terminal and the largest Europe’s ports – Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
Ust-Luga Container Terminal is a container terminal of NCC Group in Ust-Luga port. The construction is being implemented in three phases. The first phase was put into operation in 2011. The full-scale implementation will be completed by 2025 when the Terminal’s capacity will reach 2.85 mln TEUs. Ust-Luga Container Terminal is going to become the largest and the most advanced container terminal in the Baltic region. When put into operation, the terminal will satisfy the growing demand for transshipment of Russian container cargoes and reduce the dependence of Russian consignees on the ports of Finland and the Baltic states.
The capacity of the first phase is 440,000 TEUs, total area – 40 hectares, berth line length – 440 m, depth near berths – 13.5 m, capacity of container ground – 15,000 TEUs, capacity of refrigerated area – 840 sockets, handling equipment – 4 STS (Panamax), 11 RTG, 2 RMG.
NCC operates Ust-Luga Container Terminal jointly with Eurogate, leading European operator of container terminals. The terminal was built through private-public partnership.
